DS4 1.2T PureTech Tuning – Valeo VD46 Tuning
This morning we worked on a DS4 1.2T PureTech tuning. The stylish hatchback was brought into our workshop since its owner loved the efficiency of the I3 engine, but wanted more performance. Is that possible? Of course it is.
The 1.2T PureTech is a part of the EB inline 3 turbo gasoline engines. These turbocharged versions come in two guises – EB2DT and EB2DTS, the second of which has more power and torque and it is also the one powering the DS4 we worked on. The figures for the stock DS4 1.2T PureTech lie at 130 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The torque is available from 1,750 rpm, so despite the modest size of the engine, it is pretty punchy and easy to drive.
The engine is designed to give the power of the previous generation 1.6 engines but with far lower emissions and fuel consumption. What the owner of this particular DS4 wanted was more power, but the same benefits of the stock engine in terms of emissions and power delivery in low rpm.

After our 1.2T PureTech tuning, the EB2DTS version of the engine got 149 hp and 272 Nm of torque. Very importantly, the delivery is very smooth and it comes very low in the rpm range, so the drivability in peaceful conditions is by no means hampered. However, with the pedal pressed hard, the extra power is very noticeable.
What the owner also noticed is the improved throttle response and the fact that acceleration requires noticeably less effort. The engine feels more relaxed and it does its job a lot easier.
It is very important to say that the whole process is just OEM ECU Valeo VD46 tuning. There are no new parts or other hardware changes. Everything is done on the OEM ECU and the car is as reliable and as safe as before. What is different is the added performance.
The same engine is used in a number of different cars and we can tune all of them. It propels various versions of the Citroen C3 and C4 vehicles, including the Grand Picasso models, the C5, DS4 Crossback, Opel Crossland X and Grandland X, Peugeot 208, 308, 308 SW, 3008 and even the latest 5008 SUV. Tuning for all these vehicles with this engine is available, as well as any vehicle that would benefit from Valeo VD46 tuning.
